Church Night is an open cultural event held in Christian churches at the start of summer, typically at the end of May. In Latvia, over 250 churches participate annually. The event draws inspiration from the ‘House of Unity’, where the organizing team gathers to plan the experience.
Church Night offers a unique opportunity to explore churches in a different light, appreciating their cultural and spiritual significance. On this special evening, churches in Riga and across Latvia remain open until midnight or later, inviting visitors to enjoy music, art, architecture, conversations, songs, silence, and prayer.
This European-wide initiative also takes place in countries like Estonia, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Germany, offering modern audiences a chance to connect with one of the cornerstones of European culture - Christian heritage in all its diversity.
