National sing and dance festival

House of Unity participated

Once in the five years a week of the national song and dance festival is held in Riga. This year the house of unity celebrated with Latvian and Dutch youngsters it’s 150^th anniversary.

This festival is a sign of national identity as inner power of sovereignty. The power is songs as the old pagan ones as Saule Perkons Daugava, but also the national hymne “Dievs sveti Latviju” (God bless Latvia) is expressed by 20.000 sin­gers and dancers together in one event. This is the biggest choir event of the world. The House of unity invited this week several youngsters to celebrate together and we invited some people of the House of Beth­le­hem a Catholic house for re-in­te­gration after addictions.

This year the Baltic states are important supporters for euch country’s indepen­dence, this year especially connected with the suffe­ring of people in the Ukraine. In the weekend of July 8th and 9th they celebrated a large popular festival on the eve of the NATO summit. As the non violent revolution in the Baltics went to the joint struggle of sin­ging together. Non-violence with a strong brave vision will create a new world of hope were there is no hope. So a new way will only grow as a joint suffe­ring and sin­ging as a joint united prayer sha­ping the world!
